Got woodworm? Get rid fast with this great guide

What is woodworm anyway?
Woodworm is every kind of larve to come from a a beetle which eats wood.  There is many different types, the most common is the Common Furniture Beetle and the Powderpost Beetle (Lyctus brunneus).   The beetles are tiny, but the way it is possible to spot them because of the small holes they leave in the timber.  The wood you have just purchased could be a post to support the new conservatory roof, unfortunately for woodworm it’s a yummy meal.  They munch through the whole segement and eventually completely ruin the structural soundness of the timber and whatever it’s being used for.

How to stop woodworm from wrecking my timber?
Prevention is better than cure and in this example the cure can be very expensive.  The problem about woodworm is the problem spreads pretty quickly.  Think about the cost of having to replace much of the timber across your whole building or structure.  The right thing to prevent it is treat your timber before the woodworm arrive.  There arelots of great wood preservation products out there in the market or online.  I always recommend Microemulsion Insecticide Wood Preservative because it is a concentrated solution which means it can cover a lot of wood.

How do I actually go about wood preservation product?
So, when you have your wood treatment back home you can begin guarding your timber against those pesky woodworm!  You simply use the instruction guide, dilute the chemical and paint it straight on the wood.  You must let it soak in well before painting over the layer but the wood can be painted on after it’s been treated.  Once it is soaked in you are ready to start building.  The treatment can still be applied to timber that’s already part of the structure, it does not have to be only new timber.

I hope this is useful for you to get rid of woodworm for good and more importantly save you money in the process.
